Van Wilks performs at the 2006 Armadillo Christmas Bazaar. He has been a popular Saturday night performer at many previous bazaars. Van is a virtuoso guitar player, and his music is eclectic, but if a name needed to be applied to his style, it might be Texas blues rock. With a career stretching into its third decade, he is a four time Austin Chronicle Music Poll winner and has been inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame. In a town known for its guitar players, Van's 12-string acoustic guitar work stands out, with distinctive slide effects, harmonics and a beautiful, truly captivating full sound. Declared "a perfect cross between Jimi Hendrix and Van Halen" by the Austin-American Statesman, Van has toured nationally and internationally with such acts as ZZ Top (whose Billy Gibbons is one of Van’s biggest supporters) and torn the roof off nightclubs and concert halls from Lubbock, Texas , the Virgin Islands, Moscow, Paris, Madrid, and countless points all over Europe. As the Houston Chronicle noted of one show: "By the end of the night we were all so delirious we wouldn’t let them go until they came out for several post-closing-time encores". Van is but one of the many great musicians booked tor this year's show, and you can catch his performance on Saturday night, December 22. For more information on Van, check out his website at www.vanwilks.com.

• MR. STRING'S 21th ANNUAL STRING–OFF •
The 2007 International Grand Finals
Monday, December 24 – 7:09 PM

The call of "Knot Now!" rings through the Music Hall as Mr. String conducts the contest (see also photos 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8) to choose the 2007 International Grand Champion Knothead—it's truly a space odyssey not to be missed. This year the Stringoff reaches voting age, proving you don't have to grow up to be considered a grownup–you just have to string along over the years and it will happen. After ten days of intense study of String Theory, this showdown finally answers the question of whether relativity and chaos can be united by a simple string. The responsibility is awesome but knotheads have mastered the art of stringing us along until they have tied up all their loose ends and reached the end of their line. Join the fun on this strung-out final night of the 2007 Armadillo Christmas Bazaar.
