Willenzik has encouraged the careers of many artists, craftspeople and musicians. Under his leadership the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar has become a paradigm for co-operation and mutual benefit between artists, musicians, producer and community. Willenzik explains, The Armadillo Bazaar is more than just an art show. It is a living laboratory for the study of individual, collective and community cultural prosperity. A few blocks from the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar sits a bench in Republic Square dedicated to Willenzik in recognition of his 25-year contribution to the cultural environment of Austin.
